Her mom was a drunk, always got some man she married but her mom was very sick. Dahlia Had many stepfathers but each one was learning how approach younger girls, so they might have married her mother but they had their sights set on Dahlia. The whole town wouldn’t even help her including the dang police, every time she ran they were drag her back and never look into why she ran, not the townsfolk, they rather throw generative words. Dahlia will learn something about her mother and a secret she harbored. Good, solid second chance story by Annette Fields. From opposite sides of the tracks, Asher and Dahlia fell in love, she moved on to school and came back. They see each other and the old feelings are still there. Can they overcome hometown prejudices and have their HEA...
This was a great second chance romance. Dahlia was a wounded flower branded "trailer trash" practically from birth and Asher was her protector. He loved her but she ran away, Four years of college and she came back. Can he win her back even against his pious parents? Well that's what makes it a great read. This was my first read by Annette Fields but it won't be my last.
Annette Field's Ball & Chain blows me away. This author is absolutely one of my favorites and every time she's publishes a new book, it is on my Must Read list. That doesn't happen often, but hers always float to the top! This book was a second chance romance which was beyond well written. It was wonderful to read and I am half tempted to read it again now.
This was a great second chance at love story. It was well written and had it all - second chances, heartache, romance - just well done. I thought Dahlia & Asher are so perfect together - characters that are developed and realistic. Overall a great read that is not to be missed. Love the no cliffhangers and a HEA!

The night Dalia left Clovverville she never wanted to see it again. There is nothing good left there for her except Asher, and even he doesn’t know the truth. When she’s forced to return Asher sees this as an opportunity to get the girl that he’s loved forever. Can he convince her that she’s worth loving? Will she tell him what really happened during her childhood?
After going away to college to forget her past, Dahlia is back in town.
Dahlia struggled all her life living with a mother who is the trailer trash town drunk. Despite the fact that she study hard and got good grades in high school while working a,part time job, people still judge her because of this. She doesn't trust anybody because Nobody was nice to her except for Asher. They were an item in high school but she pushed him away when she left and no communication. Now that she's back Asher won't let her go again. Can they move forward toward the future instead of looking back to the past? A good read. The intimate scenes are really good. I enjoyed reading this book. I received this advanced reader copy voluntarily in exchange for am honest review.
